Chapter Sixty: There was a voice. That was her recollection of the moment so far. She knew everything about Santa Claus, where he lives, what kind of vehicle he commands, and those enchanted reindeers pulling his magic sleigh on Christmas Eve. Other than that, she was led to believe by her loving parents that Santa Claus was an obese old man. But he was not, apparently.
In fact, she recalled finding Santa Claus to be a debonair (despite on such a tender age) even though she almost thought that he was a burglar, breaking and entering. But she would soon find out that it was not Santa Claus himself after all. He was another being working for the Christmas Corporation. According to him, he was called a Mirrorite.
Of course, she couldn't just believe an explanation like that, and she was so anxious that this man could be a thief in the night, just dressed like Santa Claus. So she wanted to immediately run upstairs, as fast as she could, to tell her parents about this potential burglary but the Mirrorite already used the Magic of Christmas to prevent her from moving and making a noise.
Her eyes widened in fear as she realized what was happening. The Mirrorite understood her fears so he wanted her to see the truth herself, with her own pair of eyes, by invoking the aesthetic appeal of the mirror to adequately satisfy the wonder of sight.
The aesthetic appeal is a command of the Magic of Christmas that shows a prospective seer of what beauty is like to someone who was gazing into the reflection, thus, gaining their trust and confidence. The Mirrorites always use this command to gain the loyalty of children who may be needing their presence according to the demands of their needs.
The Christmas Corporation updates the mission of the Mirrorites every year, choosing only nothing but the best, and it is a very tedious process, indeed, and an honor, just to be included in this list of the several, relevant resolutions.
She was still a child back then, but the memory was still vivid in her mind. As expected, the aesthetic appeal allowed her to trust that distinguished Mirrorite, and that the encounter during that night will prove to be a crucial moment to flee from an emergency plight. She was told that her family was in grave danger and that they needed to move away from this place as fast as they can, before this unfortunate event is moments away from happening.
"But what about my parents?" she recalled asking the Mirrorite. She was already scared at this point, gazing at the mirror.
"Do not worry about them," the Mirrorite replied calmly. "We will use magic, just like in the movies."
"Really?" she asked again, a little bit relieved. "Are we going to be teleported into a safe place? Will there be planets and stars still, shining brightly on the night sky?"
"Are you referring to Connecticut?" the Mirrorite asked anew, jokingly. "Because if so, everything you have just described tends to be very true."
"Well, I don't think so, Mr. Mirrorite," the little girl stated. "I do not know where Connecticut is and you probably do not like Astronomy as much as I do."
